Susanne DesRoches is the Deputy Director, Infrastructure + Energy at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Recovery and Resiliency and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Sustainability. In this role, she oversees analysis and advocacy on a wide range of regulatory and legislative energy matters at the local, state and federal level. She also focuses on adapting regional infrastructure systems to climate change. Specific initiatives include leading the NYC Climate Change Adaptation Task Force which works to identify climate risks and coordinate adaptation strategies. She recently led the development of the NYC Climate Resiliency Design Guidelines. Susanne was previously the Chief of Resilience and Sustainability in the Engineering Department at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, where she oversaw incorporation of sustainability and climate resiliency into the agency’s $27B ten-year capital program. Susanne is a chapter author for the fourth National Climate Assessment. She holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and an MPA in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University. Susanne is a faculty member in the Master of Science in Sustainability Management at Columbia University.
