Simms Duncan joined Lightsource BP in February 2019 to lead the Project Finance function throughout the Americas and to close the company’s first financing transactions in the United States. Before joining Lightsource BP, Simms held other senior positions in the solar industry for 11 years including Vice President of Project Finance for Hanwha Q CELLS (now 174 Power Global) where he led a team to execute approximately 750MW of project transactions across the United States, Mexico, and Panama. Simms also served as Managing Director of Corporate Development at Applied Materials where he led the company’s end-to-end corporate development efforts in the solar industry. Most recently, at a solar+storage startup, Simms led the industry’s first arm’s length financing of an integrated solar+storage Power Purchase Agreement project with a Tier-1 infrastructure investor. The first 7 years of Simms’ business career were at the investment banking firm Jefferies where he rose to the level of Senior Vice President while advising clients on strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and corporate financings. Simms has closed approximately $4.0 billion of corporate and project transactions. Before beginning his business career, Simms flew carrier-based jets for the US Navy. Simms holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering from the US Naval Academy.
