Luke Witmer

Luke Witmer is the Director of Data Science for Wartsila’s Energy Storage and Optimization business. Luke has a PhD from the Pennsylvania State University, where he studied solar energy, energy systems, and electricity markets. Luke’s team is actively building software products focused on battery power plant asset management (including anomaly detection, battery health assessment, capacity estimation, predictive maintenance, and more), model predictive control for standalone and hybrid power plants in both islanded and grid connected market bidding contexts (including renewable power forecasting, electricity price forecasting, and optimization), and both energy and power systems simulation models and tools (for purposes ranging from revenue assessment over historical periods to dynamic models for grid code compliance and interconnection processes).
