Dave Benson

Dave has been in the energy industry as a lawyer and a developer for more than 25 years, focused on developing and transacting on renewable and thermal energy generation projects. He is a cofounder and managing director of Radiant. Radiant develops generation to support large loads that need 24/7 power, ether co-located or front of the meter. Prior to Radiant, Dave cofounded Bia Energy Capital LLC, a developer of behind the meter solar and storage projects. Before starting Radiant and BEC, he was a partner and the co-head of the global energy, infrastructure, and resources practice at K&L Gates LLP. Before K&L, Dave was a partner and chair of the bioenergy practice at Stoel Rives LLP. Dave’s energy experience includes developing, acquiring/selling, and financing (including tax equity financing) more than 8 GW of energy generation projects, with an operating value of well over $10 billion. Dave is an active participant on multiple clean energy boards, including co-chair or the University of Washington Clean Energy Institute’s Technical Advisory Panel, Western Washington University’s Institute for Energy Studies, and a past board member of many other public and private non-profit and state committees. Dave holds a B.S. in Finance from Arizona State University, a JD, summa cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law, and an LLM, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center.
