Ramé Hemstreet is a key adviser to the senior vice president of facilities at Kaiser Permanente, one of America’s leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans. He is responsible for integrating and coordinating all components of facilities services for the organization, including its multibillion dollar annual construction program; maintenance, security, and clinical technology at more than 1,000 hospitals, medical offices and other buildings; and a 78-million-square foot real estate portfolio. As chief sustainable resources officer, he oversees Kaiser Permanente’s energy strategy, which focuses on reducing energy intensity and pursuing green power opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He collaborates with stakeholders throughout Kaiser Permanente to reduce energy intensity, utility costs, and the company’s carbon footprint. Hemstreet joined Kaiser Permanente in 2011 from the U.S. Navy, where, as commanding officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington D.C., he led a team of 70 officers and 1,500 civilians delivering $1.5 billion a year of facilities management and construction services to Navy and Marine Corps clients throughout the nation’s capital region.
